I went to downtown Manhattan for the first time after 5 weeks in New Jersey.
In the meantime, there are so many things to prepare, because I didn't just come here to play, so there was a lot to do every weekend.
Actually, even before I came to New Jersey...
In particular, Fort Lee/Palisades Park, where I live, is just across a bridge and it's New York, so I thought I could go to New York from New Jersey, like Gangnam from Gangbuk in Korea.
However, this Hudson River is as wide as the sea, the bridge is not only very blocked, but also very huge, and you have to pay 11 to 13 dollars each time you cross (one-way only). Also, since Manhattan is so complicated, I have to take a deep breath every time I go.
For New Jerseyans(?), New York feels close yet far away... After coming here, the feeling has changed.
Anyway, I've come this far, so I planned an outing in 5 weeks thinking that I should see Times Square.
After having ramen at the Palisades park boarding house, I set off.
In an app called ParkWxx, I found a cheap parking lot halfway between Times Square and Central Park.
It is said that taking a bus is good because it saves you the toll, but it is obvious that I will have to use a car when my family comes, so I used my own car for rehearsal.
The parking lot was clean, and when I got off, the parking attendant did valet parking, which was convenient.
After that, I walk all the way to Times Square, and it's crowded...
London and Paris also have a lot of people in the city, but they can't compare to Manhatten, and the buildings are incredibly tall and dense in this city.
It really couldn't have been a whole new world.
(I think it would be quite a culture shock to my kids if I brought them...)
First of all, I think it's almost impossible to move with a stroller, and I don't think I've seen a single person pushing a stroller.
As I walked, I saw a bus showing Korea tourism advertisements.
Finally, I arrived at Times Square.
There are so many people. Hundreds of people line up to buy tickets to a Broadway show.
I'm out of my mind, so I decided to get out of here... I'm going to see the Rockefeller Center tree recommended by my co-worker.
There are more people here.
It seems that lovers all over the world have gathered.
Now the mandatory tour (?) is over, and I have to leave quickly to the place I want to be.
Through Central Park, I went to the Metropolitan Museum!!
On the way, I could see a nice cathedral and Trump Tower across the way.
I finally arrived at Central Park.
I think I can breathe now. After all, I don't think I'm a city mouse, but a country mouse.
Even in Korea, I didn't really like going to Seoul.
The path to the zoo in Central Park is friendly and nice.
After walking along this road for about 20 minutes, I finally came to my final destination, the Metropolitan Museum.
It is said to be one of the world's three largest museums, and the size is said to be the fourth largest in the world.
Compared to the Louvre, I think it's a small size.
There were many other interesting works, but the works of Gogh/Gauguin/Monet, which appeared a lot in art books, caught my eye.
After the tour of the museum, I took a photo, and now I am on my way back to the parking lot.
It's over 4 o'clock and the sun is about to set.
Obviously, the daytime are too short here in winter.
After leaving Central Park, the lights on the streets of Manhattan, which have faded, create another scene.
Suddenly, a homeless man who was begging started screaming into the back of my head, asking why someone was staring at him.
But I didn't even look back and walked, regardless of the reason.
I shouldn't be like that when I bring my kids, but I'm a little worried.
Back in the parking lot to find the car, apparently I had a reservation for $29, but they ask for $60.
Embarrassed, I told them that I had made a reservation for $29, but they got angry and asked me that I should have shown it to them.
I just said "Okay".
Driving in the infamous Manhattan wasn't as hard as you might think.
The complexity of the road is extremely strong, but I think it can be seen as almost half the stress of driving in Seoul or Busan because people give way well.
That concludes the review of my half-day outing in Manhattan.
